Sandia High School puts on the murder mystery “Clue”.
By Sawyer Totaro
Attention Matadors! Do you have dreams and aspirations to be in one of Sandia’s play productions directed by Mr. Morris? Now is your chance to audition for a role and have a chance to be in the latest play, “Clue.” Auditions have been delayed but you can know when the dates are announced by joining the Remind for Clue auditions by using the code @clue879. The auditions will take place after school in the drama room from 4-6 p.m. If you don't get a role don't be discouraged, we still need a crew for the production to make it work.
If you do receive a role for auditioning, rehearsals will take place from early March until May when the show will finally be put on. Morris shared his concerns on the play by saying, “Clue is a fairly long play, with a two hour time span, and a difficult set design, but I think we can pull it off.” If you do not want to do crew work, there are still a variety of other things you can help with such as lighting and music cues.
If you don't know anything about Clue, it is a murder mystery board game with a full list of different characters, scenarios, and items. The Clue play will be combining all of these aspects of the board game into one comical yet mysterious production. Morris said “I chose this play because it has a lot of uniqueness to it, and keeps the audience guessing on who the murderer could be or what kind of things will happen next.” We encourage all matadors to donate things to the play that could help with set design or costuming. Clue is set in the 1950s-1960s, so clothing from that time period or resembling it will be perfect for costumes. Suits and dresses are ideal. Wood planks for building rooms for the set and doors, door frames, paintings, mirrors, other room design props, etc. are all needed in order to build the set. If you are considering donating, email Mr. Morris using ryan.morris@aps.edu.
