Sandia’s nutrition is a big deal for every student in the school. It's important for students to eat good and filling meals everyday. Not only is it healthy, but it's also crucial; food is needed to get through school. Here at Sandia there is free food provided, also including vending machines with food and snacks. “75% of New Mexico students don't have the proper nutrition,” according to thefooddepot.org. Nutrition is needed because it “contributes to the quality of life,” stated by health.gov.au.

“Nutrition is a big part in an athlete's mental and physical health,” said Jaira Rael, Junior Varsity Girls Soccer player and gymnast. “I start with eating carbs in the morning, fruits and vegetables throughout the school day and proteins, vegetables, fruits and carbs for dinner.”

Shfb.org states “Eating healthy meals improves your mood, brings higher grades, and promotes your interpretation.” Food in school plays a significant role in a student's life.

With student athletes in the school, good nutrition makes sporting performance better. Athletes need a good balanced meal to perform throughout the day and have an energy boost. Nutrients can help young athletes reach their full potential.
